Signs of optimism for growers?

WHILST on a recent farm tour to Germany, I became aware that the European price of wheat was rising.
I used to grow wheat but quickly realised that any price below £100 was unprofitable and so I stopped the crop on my farm.

The Royal Show - RIP

I FOR one will not shed any tears about the news that the Royal Show site is to be offered for sale.
I always felt that when I left that sodden show field last week, it would be my final visit.

I USED to be a regular visitor to the Royal Show at Stoneleigh, but I’ve not been recently. However, with the aid of a cheap ticket, I thought I’d go again.

Farming succession the German way

IT WAS my good fortune to visit Germany twice last month. Since my return I have been asked frequently whether farming is better there than here: my standard reply has been that things could hardly be worse here, so they must be better there.
